The Bathurst 12 Hours mark this weekend the kick-off of the new Intercontinental GT Challenge. Three events will be on the program in 2016 with, in addition to the Australian round, the 24 Hours of Spa (counting for the Blancpain GT Series, July 30-31) and the 12 Hours of Sepang next December.
The challenge will reward manufacturers who enter via private teams, but also drivers (the title being awarded to the driver who has scored the most points with a single manufacturer). An AM title will also be awarded to Bronze drivers who can progress with different brands.
The first Bathurst event brings together four manufacturers with Audi (represented by Phoenix Racing and the Melbourne Performance Center), Bentley (M-Sport), McLaren (Tekno Autosports, Keltic Racing and McElrea Racing) and Mercedes (Mishumotors and Erebus Motorsport).
