Nissan wins the Bathurst 12 Hours

Nissan took victory at the Bathurst 12 Hours in Australia after a suspenseful finish. The last restart allowed the No. 35 GT-R Nismo from Strauss-Chiyo-Reip to gain the advantage over his opponents following a superb recovery from the Japanese from third place. The Japanese car quickly built up a solid lead over the rest of the peloton to offer a resounding success to the Japanese manufacturer (the first at Bathurst since 1992) which is making a comeback in full force. La Bentley Continental GT n°10 du Team M-Sport pilotée par Smith-Kane-Bell semblait être en mesure de s’assurer la deuxième marche du podium, mais an unfortunate mistake by Matt Bell in the very last corner cost the British team the podium. It was the #8 Phoenix Racing Audi R15 LMS ultra that started from pole and led by Vanthoor-Mapelli-Winkelhock which was the first to benefit, the Belgian having been very combative in the final laps. L'Aston Martin Vantage n°97 of Craft Bamboo Racing of O’Young-MacDowall-Mücke takes the last step of the podium. There Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 of LeBrocq-Muscat-Canto entered by Erebus Motorsport completes the top five behind the Bentley.

David Brabham, driver of the No. 3 Flying B Motorsport Bentley Continental GT8 at the Bathurst 12 Hours in Australia, was taken to hospital. The winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2009 hit the wall at Cutting following contact with the #3 Craft Bamboo Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT97 driven by Stefan Mücke. The Australian remained conscious and is expected to simply undergo medical examinations.
