Piccione and Dusseldorp revenge

The German weekend for the Nîmes team Hexis AMR was very mixed on the Sachsenring circuit two weeks ago, in the FIA GT1 world championship. If the Andrea Piccini-Christian Hohenadel duo won the event and took the lead in the general classification, their teammates had less success. And yet, everything started well.

“We showed a good burst of speed in the qualifying race at the Sachsenring (2nd, editor’s note), underlines Stef Dusseldorp. But we were eliminated in the first corner of the championship race (following contact, editor's note). We are therefore delighted with the pace shown, but not with the number of points gleaned. »

This weekend, at Silverstone, the young Dutchman will therefore be keen to climb on the podium, and why not on the highest step of the podium, to move back towards the head of the general classification. “Silverstone should be a circuit well suited to that?Aston Martin, we will therefore aim for victory during the championship race, continues Dusseldorp. I have never ridden there before, so it will be a new experience for me. Luckily, Clivio knows the route well, and we have the data, which should allow me to learn it quickly. »

“I love Silverstone, and I'm really looking forward to going there, especially to see the new facilities, confirms Clivio Piccione. It's a home race for Aston Martin, and also a bit for me as I raced for four seasons in the UK. We have to fight for victory in both races. We don't have any onboard ballast, and I expect the Aston Martins to be very fast on their soil. »

Fourth in the championship, the Clivio Piccione-Stef Dusseldorp pair will therefore be most motivated this weekend to offer Aston Martin the Tourist Trophy (very popular across the Channel), and thus forget the last two meetings which were not very prolific in points.
