Robert Dahlgren to leave V8 Supercars

Robert Dahlgren is preparing to leave V8 Supercars after the Sydney 500 contested on December 6 and 7 which will conclude the season. The 2010 champion of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship will only have played one season in the Australian discipline, after being called by Volvo to defend the interests of the brand which is associated with Garry Rogers Motorsport. But with only a 25th place in the Championship before the final, his results remained mixed. “It was an incredible reward to be involved in the early days and I am proud to have played an important role in the development of the new car and engine”, commented the Swede. “The whole team and the public gave me a wonderful welcome. The V8 is one of the greatest Championships and I will leave Australia with a head full of good memories. »

His replacement has not yet been named although Alexandre Prémat could take advantage of this free place, after scoring the podium alongside Scott McLaughlin in Surfers Paradise last month. Robert Dahlgren will continue to work with Volvo and Polestar next year in an as yet undefined program. “We thank Robert for his help and professionalism over the past 12 months,” added Garry Rogers. “While his results have not truly reflected his potential, his work off the track has been highly appreciated. Robert brought significant value to engineering and his knowledge was essential in making the transition to the official Polestar team. »

Christian Dahl, the director of Polestar, goes even further. “Robert's results were what we expected with a new car, a new engineer and new circuits. Nevertheless, its research and development work between Gothenburg (Polestar) and Melbourne (GRM) exceeded our expectations. We're bringing Robert home for new projects. » One of them could concern the WTCC where certain speculations speak of a return of the Scandinavian brand (see: n°1984 of AUTOhebdo).
