Super GT – Ronnie Quintarelli takes pole at Motegi

If James Rossiter appears as leader of the Japanese Super GT championship this weekend, the Briton's lead remains very small with three small units over the Caldarelli-Ito duo, six over Quintarelli-Matsuda, seven over De Oliveira-Yasuda and fourteen on Naoki Yamamoto, the last driver in contention for the 2014 crown. And it was Ronnie Quintarelli in the Nissan GT-R of Team Nismo who struck first at Motegi in Japan, taking pole position during the session qualifying time in 1’38″258. It’s even a double for Nissan since the No. 46 GT-R of Motoyama’s S-Road MOLA Team? Yanagida completes the first line.

Dome Racing, with the Naoki Yamamoto pair? Takuya Izawa (Honda NSX-GT) and Team Petronas Tom’s of James Rossiter and Kazuki Nakajima (Lexus RC F) will start from the second row. Andrea Caldarelli and Daisuke Ito (Team KeePer Tom’s) will only start from 13th in the GT500 category. Note that Michelin equips the first three cars on the starting grid.

In GT300, it’s the Mercedes SLS of Gainer Dixcel from the Hiranaka duo? Wirdheim who took pole position. Category leaders Tatsuya Kataoka and Nobuteru Taniguchi (BMW Z4? GSR & Team Ukyo) will start from third position.
