A page in Australian motorsport will turn in January 2023. On this date, the Dick Johnson Racing Supercars team will cede the majority of its shares to the Ralph family.

However, former five-time Australian Touring Champion and three-time Bathurst 1K winner Dick Johnson (team founder) and team principal Ryan Story will continue to hold a significant share of the company. They will both maintain their positions and supervise operations at the team's workshop.

The Ralph family interests will be held by the Melbourne Aces Baseball Club. This family is best known to Australians for their involvement in Antipodean team sports (Melbourne Storm NRL and the Sunshine Coast Lightning Super Netball club).

“Brett and the Ralph family are strategic investors in DJR, with the current management structure we have in place that continues to run the business on a day-to-day basis as it has been”, explains Ryan Story. Brett and the Ralph family are fantastic people, and we couldn't imagine partnering with anyone else. They are extremely experienced businessmen with a passion for the sport that is undeniable. From the moment I first spoke with Brett, I knew we would have a fantastic working relationship. »

Dick Johnson Racing is one of the most successful teams in Australian Supercars history, with over 140 wins, all achieved with the help of Ford. Successful drivers have passed through Dick Johnson Racing such as John Bowe, James Courtney and most recently Scott McLaughlin, now engaged with Team Penske in IndyCar.

This is not the first time that Dick Johnson Racing has changed majority shareholders. At the end of 2014, the “Captain”, Roger Penske, had acquired a 51% stake in the capital. The founder of the Penske empire established a rigor capable of becoming the number 1 force on the grid, with three titles, a Bathurst 1 and more than 000 races won in the space of six years. At the end of 50, Roger Penske sold his shares to Ryan Story.
