V8 – Craig Lowndes gets back into the title race
Si Craig Lowndes (Triple Eight Racing) lost several positions at the start of the long race (45 laps) at Phillip Island, the driver of the No. 888 Holden moved up in the peloton after the stops to take control of the race at the end of the second pit stop.
With his second victory of the weekend, Craig Lowndes returns to 179 points behind the Championship leader Mark Winterbottom (Pepsi Max Crew) only fourth in the race ahead of the Nissans of Todd and Rick Kelly after starting from pole
The driver of Ford No. 5 was vigorously attacked by Jamie Whincup (Triple Eight Racing) on the last lap for the last step of the podium. The defending champion placed behind Scott McLaughlin (GRM) who achieved his best result of the season by finishing in each race of the weekend in the top three.
The Coates Hire Sydney 500, the final of the V8 Supercars, will be contested from December 4 to 6.
