Race 2 of the Gold Coast 600 in Surfers Paradise saw Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell (Triple Eight) return to victory. The No. 1 Holden driven at the start of the race by Paul Dumbrell quickly took the advantage over the No. 33 Volvo of Alexandre Prémat (GRM) who also had to give in to the attacks of Jonathon Webb (Team Tekno VIP Petfoods).
The pit stops allowed Scott McLaughlin, the Frenchman's teammate, to regain the advantage against Shane van Gisbergen, but the winners of Race 1 will be given a drive through for an infringement noted during a restart. And will finish behind the Commodore of Tim Slade and Tony d’Alberto (Supercheap Auto Racing).
The crew of the No. 33 Volvo had to resist the Nissan of Michael Caruso and Dean Fiore (Norton Hornets) at the end of the race, the event being disrupted by several interruptions, including a spectacular accident by James Moffat's sister car .
