V8 – Whincup and Dumbrell on Sandown 500 pole

Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell (Triple Eight) took pole for the Sandown 500 after taking victory in qualifying and two 20-lap qualifying races, the first of which was contested by the teammates of the season starters. Shane van Gisbergen and Jonathan Webb (Team Tekno VIP Petfoods) will start from the front row in front of the official Ford of Mark Winterbottom and Steve Owen.

Scott McLaughlin and Alexandre Prémat (Valvoline Racing GRM), present in the endurance races this season, took fourth place and will be able to aim for a good place on the podium. The Holden Racing Team Commodores follow in third row with Garth Tander and Warren Luff ahead of the sister car of James Courtney and Greg Murphy.
