V8SC – Ashley Walsh joins Erebus Motorsport

As the final of the 2014 V8 Supercars season looms from December 5 to 7 in Sydney, Australia, the lines are already starting to move in preparation for 2015. After David Wall, who will move from Dick Johnson Racing to Volvo Polestar Racing next year, it is the turn of Erebus Motorsport to confirm the presence of Australian Ashley Walsh, 26, in the seat of the Mercedes E63 AMG n°4 in 2015. Having competed for two seasons in the Dunlop Series (currently second in a Ford Falcon FG from Matt Stone Racing, Editor's note), Walsh had already been able to compete in the major championship in 2013 with Dick Johnson Racing.

“Ash has always been one of the main protagonists in the Dunlop Series for several years, said Ryan Maddison, boss of Erebus. For our team, Ash represents an attractive solution and he has earned the chance to move to the next level in V8 Supercars, a step that other young drivers such as Scott McLaughlin and Chaz Mostert have achieved with great success in recent years. »

Walsh will team up with Will Davison and take over from Lee Holdsworth, winner of a round at Winton this year, the first for Erebus in the discipline. “It’s something I’ve worked for my whole life, trying to make it as a professional racing driver. So for me it is the culmination of many years of hard work and I am very proud to represent Erebus and grateful for the opportunity they are giving me, continues the Queensland native. Plus, Will is a pilot with a pretty impressive resume. I need to take all the benefits of working with the people at Erebus. Obviously coming into the main series, I have a lot of work to do. »

Walsh will take the wheel of the E63 AMG during the first tests of the V8 Supertest next February.
