The final race of the Perth 400 revolved around a duel between pole sitter Craig Lowndes (Holden – Red Bull Racing Australia) and Chaz Mostert (Ford – Pepsi Max Crew). If Lowndes maintained his advantage after the start, Mostert went on the attack halfway through the race and managed to overtake the winner of the second race yesterday. The latter did not give up and tried to come back, but without ever succeeding in carrying out a victorious attack on the Ford Falcon which won after 83 laps. This is the Ford driver's second career victory, his first with his Pepsi Max Crew team.
We will remember from this final round in Perth the punctures suffered by the Mercedes Erebus or the Holden Commodore of Holden Racing. Mark Winterbottom (Ford – Pepsi Max Crew) by placing 3rd, maintains the advantage in the general classification with 101 points ahead of Craig Lowndes. Jamie Whincup, the reigning champion, 4th in this race, moved up to fourth place in the championship standings.
