V8SC – Marcos Ambrose faces a big challenge

Champion in 2003 and 2004 in V8 Supercars, the Australian Marcos Ambrose attempted the adventure NASCAR in the United States from 2006. After having cut his teeth in the Trucks Series and Nationwide, Ambrose arrived in the Sprint Cup in 2009, with the reputation of the kingpin of the road circuits, after several successes in the Nationwide. This will be confirmed since Ambrose will win his only two victories at Watkins Glen in the premier category.

In 2015, he will make his big return to his homeland with the help of Team Penske, who will make his debut in the discipline, but does not expect a walk in the park. “I'm definitely not going to tell you I'm going to come home and rule the world. A big challenge lies before me to reintegrate myself into the series, to readjust my driving style according to these cars, to change my style to adapt to the racing rules. But I will be very well surrounded with Dick Johnson Racing and Team Penske. It is an honor to race for these two motorsport legends. It will take time, but we believe we can play for victory. » The Australian will also meet old opponents, including five-time champion Jamie Whincup, current series leader. “If you look at the entries, he’s definitely one of the strongest riders. But it's not just him. I watched some of the races this season, and there are several other very strong drivers. Especially young people. » Ambrose says.

The resident of Richard Petty Motorsports in NASCAR, who in 2015 will drive a Ford Falcon for DJR Team Penske, does not hide his desire to win the Bathurst 1000, the top of the V8 Supercars calendar, traditionally contested in October.
