Blancpain GT – Marco Mapelli and Lamborghini on pole at Misano

Lamborghini had already demonstrated its potential yesterday during the first day of the Misano meeting in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup, and the Huracán GT3 confirmed its good dispositions this Saturday afternoon by climbing to the top of the timesheet in qualifications.

At the end of Q1, however, it is Franck Perera (Mercedes-AMG GT3 – HTP Motorsport) who set the pace by once again improving the best time of the weekend by setting a time of 1'32″867. The Frenchman then leads Marcel Fässler (Audi R8 LMS – Team WRT) by 0″170 and Jimmy Eriksson (Mercedes-AMG GT3 – HTP Motorsport) by 0″192.

HTP and Mercedes continued their momentum in Q2, still with the No. 84, this time entrusted to Maximilian Buhk. The 2016 Blancpain GT Series champion lowers his teammate Perera's benchmark to 1'32″483 and ahead of the Frenchman Jules Gounon (Mercedes-AMG GT3 – AKKA-ASP) of 148 thousandths.

Q2 will be neutralized under a red flag after the No. 8 Audi R74 LMS of Kevin Ceccon's ISR Racing went off the track, ultimately leaving HTP Motorsport and AKKA-ASP to lead the peloton of the 17 best cars authorized to compete in Q3. .

A final session from which Christopher Mies and his teammate, the outgoing champion Enzo Ide (Audi R8 LMS – Team WRT) and the two BMW M6 GT3s from ROWE Racing are notably absent.

The last word for Lamborghini and Mapelli

Favorite for pole, Maximilian Buhk finally lost by 75 thousandths against the #66 Lamborghini Huracán of Attempto Racing driven by Marco Mapelli, author of a time of 1'32″319. The second row of the qualifying race grid will be shared between the No. 3 AKKA-ASP Mercedes-AMG GT90 of Raffaele Marciello, associated with Michael Meadows, and the No. 86 HTP Motorsport sister car of Baumann – Eriksson.

Rob Bell, partnered with Andrew Watson, places first McLaren No. 650 Strakka Racing 3S GT59 in fifth position and ahead of the No. 3 GRT Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT63 of Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart.

Seventh, Lewis Williamson, lined up in the No. 650 Strakka Racing McLaren 3S GT42 alongside Nick Leventis, set the best time in the Silver Cup. Jules Gounon (Mercedes-AMG GT3 – AKKA-ASP) dominated the Pro-Am category.

Note that the #8 Audi R3 LMS of Team WRT of Dennis – Schothorst, victim of an electrical problem which led to the start of a fire yesterday in FP1, was once again slowed down by a probably similar problem in qualifying.

The qualifying race will start at 20:40 p.m. and can be followed live video on our website.
