Button and Yamamoto crowned in Super GT

Jenson Button won his first Super GT title by becoming the first rookie since 2005 to be crowned, the last being Taranosuke Takagi. Alongside his teammate Naoki Yamamoto with whom he shares the wheel of the No. 8 Honda NSX-GT of Team Kunimitsu, the Briton resisted the assaults of the Lexus LC500 Tom's of Ryo Hirakawa and Nick Cassidy who were also competing for the title and who finally failed a little over a second from the podium completed by the Honda with Raybring livery. Honda returns to the joys of the coronation for the first time since 2010.

Victory went to the Honda of Tomoki Nojiri and Takuya Izawa who won with a little less than 2 seconds ahead of the Lexus of Yuji Tachikawa and Hiroaki Ishiura.
