Carrera Cup – Kevin Estre wins the triangular

Frenchman Kevin Estre dominated qualifying for the Porsche Carrera Cup race organized alongside the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the double-clock circuit. He beats Tom Dillmann and Earl Bamber at the end of the suspense.

Avec 61 voitures engagées ce week-end pour la course de Porsche Carrera Cup, organisée en marge des 24 Hours of Le Mans, and outside the championship, the qualifications promised to be thrilling, and they were. In the end, it was the Frenchman Kevin Estre, resident of the Tsunami RT for the occasion, who won pole position after a real three-way match between him, Tom Dillmann (RMS) and the New Zealander Earl Bamber , defending champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and who had dominated free practice.

Estre won in 4'03"366 over a lap of the 13,629 km course in Sarthe and was ahead of his compatriot Dillmann by 198 thousandths. Bamber failed a thousandth behind Dillmann in third position. Behind, the gaps are made with the rest of the peloton since the Englishman Ben Barker is in 4th position, more than a second from the leading trio. Followed by Nicolas Marroc (Loeb Racing), Nicolas Armindo (IMSA Performance, last driver less than 2″ from the poleman. Laurent Aiello finished 14th while it was Laurent Pasquali (IMSA Performance) who set the best time in Gentlemen Drivers.

The Carrera Cup race will take place on Saturday from 11:15 a.m. for 45′ of action on the track.
