Chevrolet will have had some successful weekends this season and some less so. In Morocco and France, where races 5 to 8 of the season were contested, the Golden Cross brand monopolized the four victories, before slowing down somewhat. But, in Macau, where the last races of the year were held, Chevrolet once again stood out, taking a victory? before officially announcing the reinforcement of Yvan Muller for next season.
The 2008 world champion, who was beaten this season in the conquest of a second title by Gabriele Tarquini, his teammate at Seat, will replace Nicola Larini numerically. The Frenchman will team up with two drivers already present this season, Alain Menu and Robert Huff. He will drive a Cruze, which Eric Nève thinks highly of.
« We are very happy with what the Cruze showed during the 2009 season, confirms the director of Chevrolet Motorsport Europe. Furthermore, it proved to be the best car on street circuits (Marrakech, Pau, Macau) and improved on all types of circuits. 2010 starts now »
Beyond the performance of the Cruze, the boss of Chevy hopes that the brand will gain in efficiency with experience but also thanks to the reinforcement of the French world champion. “ We are delighted that Yvan Muller is joining our team and we are preparing a busy schedule for the winter, continues Eric Nève. We really want to fight for the world title next year! »
