We can never repeat it enough, but in the qualifying exercise, Raffaele Marciello (Mercedes-AMG GT3 – GruppeM Racing) is a real devil.
The Italian driver scored his second pole position in two years at the Guia circuit, for the qualifying race for the FIA GT World Cup in Macau, by completing his best lap in 2'15"669, 1"2 better than his 2018 performance.
Fast in free practice, the 911s did not seem to find the right tempo, Laurens Vanthoor failing in 4th position half a second behind. Maro Engel lifts the second Mercedes-AMG GT3 – GruppeM Racing into fifth position by six tenths.
You have to look towards 11th place to see the best BMW M6 GT3 – Fist Team AAI of Joel Eriksson, just ahead of 2018 winner Augusto Farfus. Accidented in EL2, Kévin Estre (Porsche 911 GT3 R – Absolute Racing) was able to restart during qualifying, but only finished 14th.
The session was interrupted by the stop on track of Adderly Fong (Mercedes-AMG GT3 – Zun Motorsport Crew) who made a mistake at turn 12.
