Debard takes the lead at home

Championship leader FFSAGT, Eric Debard took the reins of the ranking thanks to his victory in Albi, during the second race, with Olivier Panis. Unfortunately, absent in Dijon due to a test of Le Mans Series (Spa-Francorchamps), cannot fully share the happiness of his teammate. Despite everything, Olivier Panis was the great architect of this victory, which allowed the driver, Eric Debard, to take the lead in the championship.

In pole position, Soheil Ayari (Corvette) got the best start and was ahead of the two Oliviers, Panis (Corvette) and Porta (Saleen). However, suffering from brake problems, Ayari could not keep the lead for long. At the end of the first lap, he went off the track which allowed Olivier Panis to take the lead. The Grenoblois then took advantage of his leadership to accelerate the fast laps and hand over the wheel to Eric Debard in the best conditions.

While the Albigensian is heading towards victory, second place is occupied by Didier Cormorèche, before the Saleen is the victim of a transmission failure, which offers second place to another Saleen, that of Patrick Bornhauser and Laurent Groppi . Laurent Cazenave and Jean-Claude Police finished in third position.

At the foot of the podium, Eric Debard could only be very satisfied with the performance performed in front of his audience. “ I'm happy to take the lead in the Championship in Albi. Since the start of the season, the championship has been long. The decision will be made during the last race at Lédenon. We proved that we can fight for the title. I had a fairly easy stint because I had a comfortable lead and I just had to manage. I would like to thank the team who did a very good job. We had some problems at the start of the weekend, they were resolved today. I am also delighted to have our teammates Jean-Claude (Police) and Laurent (Cazenave) on the podium with us. It was a good weekend for the DKR team. »

In GT3, like the day before, it's the Ferrari F430 from the AS Events team which won the bid, finishing in fourth place in the absolute ranking behind the three GT1s. Christopher Campbell made the best start and was joined by two other Ferraris from the AS Events team, who monopolized the lead in GT3. Behind, the list of retirements lengthens, to the point that 70% of the cars entered do not reach the finish. While Jérôme Demay flew to victory, it was ultimately the other Ferrari of the AS Events team still in the game, that of François Jakubowski, who won on the finish line. The Campbell/Jakubowski crew therefore had a magnificent weekend, with victory in both races. In the general classification, Mike Parisy and Philippe Gaillard still lead the FFSA GT3 championship.
