Porsche double at the start of the season

This is what we call kicking off the season well. The first round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series canceled last March, the 4-hour race scheduled for this Saturday on the North Loop served as the launch of the 2021 campaign.

Prétendant sérieux à la victoire, Porsche quitte la Nordschleife avec un joli doublé dans ses bagages. Cinquième sur la grille de départ, le tandem formé par Lars Kern, Kevin Estre et Michael Christensen (Porsche 911 GT3 R N°911 du Manthey-Racing) a coupé en premier la ligne d’arrivée au terme d’une belle lute avec le duo Oliver Berretta et Nick Thiim sur leur Audi R8 LMS GT3 N°11 du Phoenix Racing.

Despite a penalty which dropped them to 2nd place, the Estre-Christensen-Kern trio showed responsiveness to take back the reins less than an hour from the finish and never let go afterwards.

Although the battle was tough with the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT11, Porsche ultimately scored a double thanks to the second place of Dennis Olsen and Fred Makowiecki in the 911 GT3 R of the Frikadelli Racing Team.

Unhappy defeated, Oliver Berretta and Nick Thiim still climbed onto the third step of the podium for this first race of the season.
