Emil Frey and AKKA-ASP on pole in Barcelona

The comeback? A priori dropped from the championship at the start of the weekend, Albert Costa and Giacomo Altoè are coming back like a rocket at money time.

Polemen and race winners on Saturday, the two men once again place the Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini on pole for the second race of the GT World Challenge sprint cup in Barcelona on Sunday.

They did exactly the opposite of the first qualification. On Saturday, the Lamborghini came out first and was able to do a dry run unlike many others. Today, she waited until the very last moment to set off since the track was drying out and getting faster with each pass.

In 1'44''878, Emil Frey Racing dominated the Mercedes AKKA-Asp of Raffaele Marciello by less than a tenth and the two Audis of Attempto Racing.

They could become the arbiter of the fight for the title since they are ahead of the Haupt Racing Mercedes of Maro Engel, the No. 31 Audi of Team WRT driven by Kelvin Van der Linde and the No. 32 in the hands of Dries Vanthoor.

In Pro-AM, Eddie Cheever, unlucky on Saturday, resumes his march forward with the Ferrari of Tempesta Racing. In silver Oscar Tunjo and Juuso Puhakka set the best time of the session in the Toksport WRT Mercedes.

The second session of the day allowed us to admire Raffaele Marciello in his works. The driver of the Mercedes AKKA-ASP achieved an exceptional lap of 1'43''296, or 675 thousandths better than his closest pursuer, Kelvin Van der Linde in the Team WRT Audi.

The other Belgian car ranks third thanks to Dries Vanthoor and the Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini will start fourth with Albert Costa. We surely have the four candidates for the title.

The third qualifying seems to have effectively put the Haupt Racing Mercedes of Maro Engel and Luca Stolz out of the race. The Germans only started in eleventh position during the last race.

In Silver, the Madpanda Motorsports Mercedes, fifth overall in the hands of Ezequiel Pérez Companc, dominated the session. In Pro-Am, it was once again Eddie Cheever and the Tempesta Racing Ferrari who were the fastest.

Race 2 can be followed at 12:25 p.m.
