FFSA-GT – C2: Demoustier and Amado do well at Le Mans

The professional drivers definitely did not have much opportunity to express themselves this weekend at Le Mans, for the opening of the championship season. FFSA-GT. Just like the day before, the relay of “A” drivers was run largely behind the safety car. In question, Laurent Cazenave's exit from the track. The pilot of the McLaren MP4-12C n°7 from Hexis Racing was unable to complete a single lap during the second race. While the debates are neutralized, Anthony Beltoise (McLaren n°9) leads the pack. Winner of the first round of the season on Saturday, the driver of Sébastien Loeb Racing was able to get the better of pole sitter Frank Perera (Porsche 911 GT3 R n°1 of Pro GT by Alméras), from the start, to take the lead at the first corner.

When the refueling window opens, several teams try to stop immediately while the safety car is still mobilized. This is particularly the case of the Porsche n°2 of the Pro Gt by Alméras driven by Enzo Guibbert, of the BMW Z4 n°5 of TDS Racing (Badey-Hassid) and of the McLaren MP4-12C n°12 of the ART Grand Prize of Grégoire Demoustier and Ulric Amado. This will prove to be a win because the safety car will disappear at exactly the same time. As a result, these three men will inherit the front positions after everyone has returned to the stands. In the end, it was Grégoire Demoustier who crossed the finish line as winner, after overtaking Eric Dermont, behind the wheel of the Porsche previously driven by the very young Enzo Guibbert. In the sister car, the pair Franck Perera – Philipe Giauque failed on the lowest step of the podium. Winners on Saturday, the 2011 French champion crew made up of Anthony Beltoise and Laurent Pasquali (McLaren MP4-12C GT3 n°9 from Sébastien Loeb Racing) ultimately had to settle for eighth position.

Note that the race was marked by several off-track exits. In addition to Laurent Cazenave, Mathieu Jaminet hit a barrier head-on, pulverizing the front of his #8 BR Racing by Saintéloc AUDI R82 LMS ultra. The real star of this weekend, Jacques Villeneuve (Ferrari 458 Italia No. 27 from Sport Garage) was unable to do much when his teammate, Eric Cayrolle, was forced to retire after an excursion off the track.
