Alpine and Audi on pole for the Pau races

For its first participation in the streets of Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), theAlpine A110 GT4 demonstrated that its mini size gave it a real advantage in the French Championship FFSAGT. This Saturday, May 18, the mount driven by Alain Ferté set the best time in Pro-Am qualifying.

The Frenchman from the Bodemer Auto team will start from first place during the night, which will start on Saturday evening at 21:05 p.m. “I had no other solution than to stay longer on the track as I couldn't get a clear lap even when I released, explains the 63-year-old man.

So I had to wait until I was alone to be able to express myself while my tires had already gone on vacation. The car is at its best, the team too, but we'll see what happens this evening as the race is still going to be very different at night and in the rain! »

In this special format, the Gold and Silver drivers of the Pro-Am crews had the opportunity to form the first starting grid lines for Race 2 (start Sunday at 13:42 p.m.). In this little game, it's Grégory Guilvert (Audi) which showed itself to be the most skilful. Before the Béarnaise rain returned, the Saintéloc Racing driver was the fastest, despite a strategy undermined by the concerns of his teammate Fabien Michal.

“In his stint, Fabien hit a curb and that disrupted our strategy since I wasn't able to put on new tires, but there is always something magical between the rails in Pau, rejoices the outgoing French champion. I almost lost my voice as I screamed so much during the deceleration lap. With my teammate Simon alongside me on the front row, we will try to run a clean race to get a good result. »
