BMW Team France shines at Paul Ricard

The final of FFSAGT at Paul Ricard will therefore reserve its outcome for the last Sunday confrontation. This Saturday's event was won by the BMW M4 GT4 n°3 – BMW Team France of Julien Piguet and Laurent Hurgon, without offering the drivers competing for the title the opportunity to break away definitively.

The start of the race clearly did not favor the two main protagonists for the national crown. From the first lap, Fabien Michal (Audi R8 LMS GT4 n°42 – Saintéloc Racing), initially hit at turn n°5, spun and was violently hit by the McLaren 570S GT4 n°22.

The Audi R8 was seriously damaged at its rear and Michal, co-leader of the championship with Grégory Guilvert, had to retire. No more success for the duo Robert Consani – Benjamin Lariche (Ginetta G55 GT4 n°8 – SpeedCar), the first mentioned being eliminated a few moments later after contact with the BMW M4 n°100.

Broken suspension, the former rally driver, who started at the back of the grid after an engine change yesterday in testing, stopped his Ginetta on the track, the Full Course Yellow then a red flag being displayed to evacuate the car from Pascal Destembert's team.

Julien Piguet forces the decision

At the start, Pierre Sancinéna (Alpine A110 GT4 n°36 – CMR), which started from pole and which had retained the advantage at the start, maintains its position against the BMW M4 GT4 n°3 of Laurent Hurgon and the Porsche Cayman GT4 n°64 – Vic’Team by Olivier Jouffret.

After the driver changes, Pierre-Alexandre Jean, relay runner from Sancinéna, remains leader but has to lose when braking for the chicane in the face of the attack from the outside of Julien Piguet, who took over from Laurent Hurgon in the BMW #3.

Despite the return in the last moments of the young resident of theAlpine – CMR, Piguet resists until the end and pockets its first victory this season, but remains under investigation for contact with a Ginetta.

Second, and if he can no longer play for the title, Pierre-Alexandre Jean makes a good comeback in the championship against the tandems Guilvert-Michal and Consani-Lariche, authors of zero points today, but still in the first two places in the general.

Eric Trémoulet and Olivier Jouffret (Porsche Cayman no. 64) climbed onto the podium again, after their two Top 3 finishes in Barcelona. Jimmy Antunes and Sylvain Noël (Porsche Cayman GT4 n°11 – Racing Technology) took 4th place ahead of another BMW M4 GT4, the n°17 – L'Espace Bienvenue of Ricardo van der Ende and Eric Debard.

Sixth, Jim Pla and Jean-Luc Beaubelique (Mercedes-AMG GT4 n°87 – AKKA-ASP) still remain in the running for the overall title. Olivier and Arnaud Gomez (Maserati GranTurismo GT4 n°34 – GP34 by Gemo Motorsport) win in the Am Cup.
