FFSA GT – Las Moras does it again, Parisy-Vannelet champions

La McLaren 570S of the Dutch Max Braams and Duncan Huisman (Las Moras Racing Team) doubled the stakes this Sunday on the Paul-Ricard circuit (Var). After a victory on Saturday in Race 1, the English car dominated the debates this Sunday.

This last event of the French championship FFSAGT in 2017 had several interests. The fight for victory first of all, with a solo rider from Julien Piguet on his Team France BMW Ekris M4 during the first stint. The Frenchman took several steps ahead of Saturday's winner Duncan Huisman. We had to wait for the driver changes in the pits to see the McLaren take the lead, this time in the hands of Max Braams. The BMW even fell to third place, behind the Porsche Cayman by Henri Hassid (Martinet by Alméras).

The hierarchy would hardly change until the checkered flag was lowered. To look for overtaking, it was necessary to focus on the fight for the national title. Two crews were still in the running: Mike Parisy et Gilles Vannelet on the Porsche Cayman (CD Sport), and the Ginetta of Benjamin Lariche et Romain Consani (Speed Car).

The duel had to be fought at a distance: Mike Parisy started from the second row, while Benjamin Lariche was stuck in 21st row. This did not improve during the first turns: the Ginetta lost some aerodynamic elements at the level of the hood. For Mike Parisy, the Sunday walk turned into permanent anxiety. “At the beginning I controlled my pace, but I realized that the Porsche lacked power compared to our opponents”, explained the Palois at the end of his stint. The French GT3 champion (in 2009) dropped to 9th place, a position which was nevertheless enough for him to be titled.

After the pit stop, Gilles Vannelet took advantage of various incidents in front of him to find a more comfortable position (5th). At almost 60 years old, he could thus add a national title after his victorious FIA GT3 European championship exactly ten years ago. “This was the objective set by the team at the start of the season. I would like to add that it is a shame to see Lariche and Consani far down in the rankings (9th), they are adorable boys and they deserved to be champions. »

The Ginetta of Stéphane Tribaudini and Michael Petit (CMR) won the amateur category.
