FFSA GT – Pierre Courroye: “Priority to GT4”

Of his McLaren MP4-12C GT3 used on the roads of the French Mountain Championship at the Ginetta G55 GT4 at the Easter Cups in Nogaro, Pierre Courroye remained faithful to GT while changing universe last weekend in Gers.

Passed by the Peugeot RCZ Racing Cup, the driver from Vesoul (Haute-Saône) quickly took charge of the hill climb, without however abandoning the circuits. 2017 was to see him entered in a Dodge Viper GT3 in the DMV championship, but mechanical problems cut the experience short.

Focused on the French Mountain Championship, not to mention a few TTE events in proto or GT, Pierre Courroye brilliantly won in the Production category, before finding the opportunity to compete in the FFSAGT This year.

“I had discussions with different teams, then the flow went well with Pascal Destembert (SpeedCar boss), the pilot told us in the Gers. On the other hand, we got the car quite late, and I was only able to do one test session before Nogaro. »

An entry into the heart of the matter therefore for the Easter Cups, with delicate track conditions on the first day. “I have no problems adapting to the car, continues Douglas Lundberg's teammate in the Ginetta G55 GT4 from Gard.

What's more complicated is that I still have trouble finding the limit. There is also a little unknown with the regulations, the driver changes…” Fourteenth on Sunday in race 1, Pierre Courroye and Douglas Lundberg progressed in the hierarchy on Monday by entering the top 10 in ninth place, and the first points scored.

Enough to start the season in the best possible way. “The priority is for GT4, but also for studies, confesses Courroye. I want to move up the ladder, and why not aim for GT3. In the coming days I will also be at Bagnols-Sabran and Col St Pierre with the McLaren in the French Mountain Championship. »
