FFSA GT – What’s new in the 2018 sporting regulations?

After an encouraging first campaign with this new GT4 format, SRO, the promoter, has decided to slightly adjust the sporting regulations of the French Championship FFSAGT, especially after hearing the wishes of the different teams involved. Here is the list of new features:

– Major information: As announced, the championship becomes 100% French. The FFSA GT therefore detaches itself from the GT4 European Series and adopts French communication.

– Private testing will be prohibited on the circuits listed on the calendar, 14 days before the meeting. This deadline was 7 days last year.

– In order to limit budgets, the compulsory Official testing day will take place the day before the Easter Cups, on the Paul Armagnac Circuit in Nogaro.

– The speed in the pit lane was changed last year, in the middle of the season, going from 50 to 60 km/h. This modification is maintained in 2018.

– The duration of qualifying practices increases from 15 to 20 minutes, to allow each driver to have a little more track time.

– The crew with the “best performance” of the meeting will be rewarded by a partner of the French FFSA GT Championship, following the vote of a jury made up of athletes.

– A separate classification for Silver crews will be introduced this season. If more than five crews are entered in this category, a traditional podium will be set up at the end of each race. Otherwise, only the first Silver will be placed on the podium.

– A Super-Pole is being studied for the Pau Grand Prix and for the first 15 cars, at the end of the two qualifying practice sessions.

– Control of safety equipment (hans, helmets, harnesses, etc.) will be reinforced.

– A fuel check will be carried out at each race via a sample.

– Also note that the race management is equipped with a computer tool which will make it possible to control the speeds and positions of the drivers during Full Course Yellow procedures and under safety car regime. Mr Alain Adam, who is notably the race director of the Blancpain GT Series and the 24 Hours of SPA, is reappointed as GT4 France race director.

– The “Pilot” point permit system is maintained. Offending drivers will have points deducted based on the infractions committed and penalties are provided for from 3 cumulative points.

New measures which will be applied from the opening round of the 2018 season, which will be held from March 30 to April 2 on the Paul Armagnac Circuit in Nogaro, scene of the traditional Easter Cups.
