Guilvert – Michal retain their title, BMW Team France wins this Sunday

Fabien Michal and Grégory Guilvert (Audi R8 LMS GT4 n°42 – Saintéloc Racing) retain their national title in FFSAGT at the end of the last Paul Ricard race, won by

The training tour is marked by the setbacks of the Mercedes-AMG GT4 n°187 – CD Sport which has to return to the pits due to a puncture.

At the first corner, Julien Piguet (BMW M4 GT4 n°3 – BMW Team France) went off-line and took the lead ahead of pole sitter Jim Pla (Mercedes-AMG GT4 n°87 – AKKA-ASP). The Munich GT4 driver finally lets Pla pass again in the last sector to avoid a logical penalty.

The AKKA-ASP driver methodically widens the gap on the competition, where Julien Piguet must face the No. 4 Mercedes-AMG GT16 – AKKA-ASP of Aurélien Panis and theAlpine A110 GT4 n°2 – Speed Car of Gäel Castelli, and then gives way to his teammate Jean-Luc Beaubelique.

The hierarchy after the driver changes then places Jean-Luc Beaubelique ahead of Fabien Barthez and a provisional AKKA-ASP double. Laurent Hurgon (BMW M4 GT4 n°3) follows in third position ahead of Saturday's winner, Benoît Lison (Alpine A110 GT4 n°919 – Mirage Racing).

In the fight for the title, Stéphane Lémeret emerges in 9th position with theAlpine A110 GT4 n°36 – CMR, after the great comeback of Pierre-Alexandre Jean from 33rd place. The Belgian then beats his rival for the title Fabien Michal (Audi R8 LMS GT4 n°42 – Saintéloc Racing), who then secures the 2019 crown with his 10th place.

But a contact caused by the No. 4 BMW M4 GT17 – L'Espace Bienvenue by Christopher Campbell sent a wave of fear through the Saint-Etienne clan. If the No. 17 is idling, the Audi No. 42 can nevertheless continue on its way without damage.

Hurgon-Piguet for the honor

In the leading trio, Laurent Hurgon takes the advantage over Fabien Barthez and begins the hunt for Jean-Luc Beaubelique, still leader in the No. 87 Mercedes. With just over 9′ to go, Hurgon got the better of Beaubelique and charged towards a first victory in 2019.

AKKA-ASP places two cars on the podium with the Beaubelique – Pla and Barthez – Panis pairs. Saturday's winners Benoît Lison and Vincent Beltoise (Alpine n°919) failed at the foot of the podium.

But the heroes of the day are Grégory Guilvert and Fabien Michal, crowned for the second consecutive year after their 9th place in race 2. Stéphane Lémeret and Pierre-Alexandre Jean finished 6th, an insufficient result to win the title.

In the Am Cup, Bruno Miot and Paul Evrard (Alpine A110 GT4 n°61 – Zentech) wins in the category.
