Mirage Racing wins in race 2 at Le Castellet

Three cars in one second. The second race of the weekend at Le Castellet was full of suspense throughout the second stint. Rodolphe Wallgren and Vincent Beltoise win at the wheel of theAlpine of Mirage Racing and ahead of the Audi Saintéloc of Fabien Michal and Grégory Guilvert by four tenths then the Mercedes AKKA-Asp by Paul Petit and Thomas Drouet by eight tenths. The latter won the silver category.

If the ending was worth the watch, you shouldn't have missed the beginning. Starting from pole, Vincent Beltoise had no problem retaining his place. Behind, however, there was a twist.

Undisputed leader of the championship, the Espace Bienvenue BMW suddenly started to slow down. Benjamin Lessennes experienced an engine problem following a slight contact. The car tried to reach the finish line by covering 75% of the distance, in vain. Above all, she is not guaranteed to compete in the third and final race of the weekend.

At the same time, theAston Martin of AGS Events driven by Mike Parisy, who started on the front row, also had a problem and went to the pits. Two favorites found themselves out of the running.

We were therefore heading towards a fight between Mirage Racing, Saintéloc and Akka-ASP. In the Audi, Grégory Guilvert managed to take second place from Thomas Drouet in the first loops. He even took the lead at refueling time, perfectly executing the strategy of stopping at the last moment.

At the start of the second stint, seven seconds separated the three cars, but they quickly came together. Fabien Michal in the lead for Saintéloc resisted many laps before giving in due to an error at the last turn five minutes from the goal.

He did not give up and attempted a final attack, in vain. Rodolphe Wallgren won. Behind, Thomas Drouet wanted to secure first place in the Silver category.

He is ahead of the other Mercedes, that of CD Sport driven by Fabien Lavergne and Edouard Cauhaupé.

In the AM, two cars also fought an intense duel. Second when he took over, Wilfried Cazalbon came back like a cannonball with his Toyota CMR on the Audi Full Motorsport of Pascal Huteau and Christophe Hamon. He made a nice pass, we thought the matter was over in the last ten minutes. But Pascal Huteau managed to get past him to win.

The complete ranking.
