The decisions of the FFSA in the face of the coronavirus

The FFSA Steering Committee made several decisions after a meeting held this Thursday.

The Federation first confirmed that calendar fees would be reimbursed to organizers forced to cancel events during the confinement period. The call for contributions from all automobile sports associations and karting is postponed.

The FFSA has set up an ad-hoc unit in charge of organizing calendars in order to study possible scenarios based on postponements and cancellations, as well as the conditions for the resumption of activities.

The Federation has also decided to freeze the technical regulations of its championships until the end of 2021 in order to limit costs for participants. “already strongly impacted by the health crisis”.

Furthermore, the finals of the 2020 French Rally, Mountain and Slalom Cups will be postponed to the following year in order to preserve sporting fairness in the context of qualifications for these events. Points already acquired in 2019 and 2020 will be carried over. The FFSA will specify the precise conditions of the qualifications later.

The French Karting Cups have been canceled in order to allow the smooth running of the French championships by also freeing up dates for regional races.

Circuit approval orders that expired during confinement will be automatically extended until Monday August 24.

The FFSA also indicated that it had been integrated into a working cell set up by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee in order to represent the interests of motorsport to the State.

France is currently in lockdown until Monday May 11, but events with a large public will still be prohibited until the health crisis is brought under control.
