FIA GT – Sébastien Loeb Racing: asserting itself as a serious candidate for the title

Not everything was rosy for Sébastien Loeb Racing during its first three trips in the FIA GT Series. If the team of the nine-time rally champion, which he co-manages with Dominique Heintz, has not been unworthy by signing in particular a victory in the very first event of the year, in Nogaro, the Alsatian team also had to deal with a lot of bad luck and youthful mistakes. But while it will begin the second part of the season in Slovakia this weekend, the Soultz-Sous-Forêts team appears to be a serious candidate for the title among the “Pro Teams”, where it is in second place in the ranking. Teams, 25 points behind Belgian Audi Club Team WRT.

To do this, Sébastien Loeb Racing will be able to count on the experience of its drivers on the recent Slovakia Ring track. “It?s a complex circuit that brings back good memories for me, relates Mike Parisy, who pilots the McLaren MP4-12C n°10 alongside Andréas Zuber. I won there in 2011 and it was on this track that Andy and I met and started our collaboration last year! Logically, in these conditions, we are quite impatient to return to mark this anniversary. Since the start of the season, we have been among the fastest on the track but we have lacked success. We want to end this second half of the championship in style... and we are aiming for the highest places, at least a podium on the Slovakia Ring. Once again, we have the speed needed to achieve this! »

Parente firmly believes in it

“This track is a mix of very fast parts which contrast with slower sequences, explains Alvaro Parente, Sébastien Loeb's teammate in the GT n°9. The key will certainly come from aerodynamics, but it is very difficult to make predictions on the settings to adopt. I have no doubt that we will find, with the team, the best set up to fight at the forefront! » As for the prospect of getting back to the leaders in the Teams Championship, the Portuguese believes in it firmly. “We are second in the provisional standings, a handful of points behind the leaders despite all the many results that have eluded us. Let's just hope that we will be happier in this second part of the season and that we will no longer see units evaporate in very annoying combinations of circumstances. » First elements of response, this weekend, in Bratislava.
