GT Tour-C2: ART GP and McLaren winners at Magny-Cours

If Grégory Guilvert started from pole with his Saintéloc Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra, the winner of the Saturday race was quickly overtaken by Ludovic Badey until the Ferrari 458 Sofrev ASP encountered a gearbox problem on the eighth lap ending his race. The poleman was thus able to regain the lead of the race and return to the pits to make his obligatory stop with around ten seconds ahead of the F458 of Olivier Panis. The latter leaves the wheel to his teammate Eric Debard who takes the lead ahead of the Audi now driven by Paul Lamic and the McLaren MP4-12C from ART Grand Prix led by Grégoire Demoustier.

Néanmoins, Eric Debard a été obligé de céder les commandes de la course en effectuant un second passage aux stands pour observer une pénalité pour ne pas avoir respecté le temps imparti dans les stands. Grégoire Demoustier saisit l’opportunité pour passer l’Audi de Paul Lamic et s’emparer de la première place qu’il ne quittera plus jusqu’au drapeau à damier. ART Grand Prix signe ainsi le premier succès d’une MP4-12C dans une épreuve française tandis que le Saintéloc Racing voit son équipage Lamic-Guilvert se rapprocher de la tête du Championnat avec une belle deuxième place qui suit après la victoire de la première course. La dernière marche du podium décrochée par Eric Debard et Olivier Panis permet à l’équipage de Sofrev ASP de repartir de Magny-Cours à la première place du Championnat avec une avance de quatre points sur Henry Hassid et Anthony Beltoise dont la Porsche 911 RSR (997) du Pro GT by Alméras a terminé la course au huitième rang.
