GT Tour – The FFSA at the bedside of French circuits

The FFSA published a new press release, a few moments afterOreca has reaffirmed its commitment as promoter of the GT Tour. The Federation confirmed that the Executive Office discussed the situation and the federal strategy in the French Circuit Championship following the Easter Cups in Nogaro (Gers) where only nine cars (LMP3 and GT3) were registered for the opening round of the GT Tour.

“I took the time to reflect following the events of recent days and did not ignore the difficulties encountered by the GT Tour and the controversies which followed”, commented Nicolas Deschaux, president of the FFSA. “This work must take into account in particular the issues of the increased internationalization of the practice (multiplication of international series registered on the FIA calendar) and the growing offer of national series in an increasingly constrained global economic context and in the face of a constant number of teams and drivers. »

“Taking into account this new, very competitive environment must, however, be linked to the requirements arising from the public service mission with which the FFSA is responsible, which is not the case for most commercial organizers today. », specified Nicolas Deschaux.

The FFSA will rely on the advice of Yvan Muller and Anthony Beltoise for their reflection work. The report on the work must be submitted in June.

The Federation has specified that Dominique Roger will no longer intervene in the operational organization of the 2016 GT Tour season, “having regard to the unjustified controversies which followed the Nogaro event and taking into account the disagreements arising from this situation with the promoter”. The president of the FFSA circuits commission had made harsh remarks against Oreca at the end of the Easter Cups.
