Esports: SRO launches a 2-hour race in Monza

SRO will exploit the SRO E-Sports GT Series, a virtual championship based on the Assetto Corsa Competizione video game, to set up a virtual event. Annoyed at having to cancel the opening round of the GT World Challenge Europe in Monza (Italy), the organizer of the GT championships will offer the Charity Challenge on Sunday March 29 at 14 p.m. French time.

The drivers of the SRO series will face the “simracers” on the legendary Italian track modeled by the developers of Kunos Simulazioni and Ak Informatica. Five guests will be able to join the race by competing in the time lap on the video game in a specific challenge launched from March 23 to 26. The funds will be donated to research in the fight against Covid-19.

SRO Motorsports is not the only organizer to offer virtual races to fill the lack of competition linked to the coronavirus pandemic. There F1 also offers its own tests. Assetto Corsa Competizione is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
