GT1: AF Corse takes pole at Nogaro

AF Corse and Audi WRT are in good form at Nogaro. Toni Vilander takes pole with the Ferrari 458 ahead of the two R8 LMS. Disappointment is in order, however, for the Hexis Racing McLarens.

GT1: AF Corse takes pole at Nogaro

Toni Vilander took pole in the qualifying race at Nogaro, the opening round of the GT1 World season. The Finn (teammate of Filip Salaquarda) gave first place to AF Corse by beating the two Audi R8 LMS of Team WRT. Stéphane Ortelli sets the second fastest time with the No. 32, ahead of the No. 33 of Frank Stippler. Enzo Ide also ensures a good result for the Italian team by placing the second F458 in fifth position just behind the Mercedes SLS n°38 from All-Inkl.com Münnich Motorsport which was driven by Marc Basseng in Q3.

The second SLS from the German team of Nicky Pastorelli and Thomas Jäger occupies sixth place. The #37 is ahead of the Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 driven by Darryl O'Young and Peter Kox. The first one McLaren MP4-12C from the Nîmes team Hexis Racing only came in eighth place with the n°2 of Grégoire Demoustier and Alvaro Parente, although it was unable to take part in Q3. The sister car #1 driven by Frédéric Makowiecki and Stef Dusseldorp failed in Q2 following what appeared to be a starter problem.

The qualifying race will take place tomorrow from 14:15 p.m. The live video will be accessible on AUTOhebdo.fr.
