Kahne wins in Atlanta

During the Pep Boys Auto 500, three men mainly played for victory: Kasey Kahne, Juan Pablo Montoya and Kevin Harvick. The latter two were also fighting during the last 40 laps for the race lead, but a final neutralization got the better of both men. At the restart, Kahne, returning in ambush on Montoya, then dropped Harvick before flying away. With this victory, Kasey Kahne records his second victory of the season and climbs to sixth place in the general classification, securing his participation in the Chase.

On the line, Harvick is ahead of Montoya, the latter settling in eighth place in the Sprint Cup Series standings. The Colombian is not guaranteed to finish in the top twelve, a bad result at Richmond could destroy the efforts made so far, but the driver's consistency proves that he has his place among the best.

Brian Vickers, 8th on the grid, finished in 7th position, grabbing a few points with a view to the Chase. The pilot Red Bull overtakes Kyle Busch and takes 13th position, the worst if he keeps it next week. However, there is hope for Vickers, who is only twenty points behind Matt Kenseth, 12th. Everything will be decided next weekend on the Richmond oval.
