Hungarian Attila Tassi becomes the youngest WTCR entrant at just 19 years old and will support Tiago Monteiro in the KCMG Asian team in 2019.

KCMG Team and Tassi Join Monteiro with Honda

Confirmed in full-time return in 2019 World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) in a Honda Civic Type-R, Tiago Monteiro now knows the identity of his team and his teammate. These are respectively KCMG and Attila Tassi, who will complete their first full season at world level in Tourism.

The Hungarian, aged only 19, is also the youngest competitor entered in the WTCR. This promotion is not usurped since the young man finished second in the TCR International Series in 2017 and fourth in TCR Europe a year later, already with KCMG.

“I am happy to become an official Honda Racing driver, Attila Tassi gets carried away. It’s a dream come true and I’m thrilled to get this opportunity at just 19 years old. Many circuits on which I will ride are unknown to me, I must therefore take this year as a learning campaign », he warns.

His team principal Paul Ip sees this arrival in WTCR as “a logical sequence”. " Not only in 2018 did we win the TCR Europe Teams classification, but also made two WTCR wild cards (in Hungary and the Netherlands). With Tiago we have one of the most experienced Touring drivers in the world, while with Attila, he has the potential to go straight to the top of the WTCR."

The Hong Kong-based KCMG team will have a busy schedule in 2019. In addition to the WTCR, it will be present in the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) as well as'at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring (Germany, June 22-23) with Nissan.
