L’Espace Bienvenue and AKKA-Asp on pole at Nogaro

Jim Pla doesn't ride, he flies. The AKKA-Asp driver crashed the second qualifying session of the Nogaro Easter Cups on Saturday on his Mercedes-AMG GT4 n°87. With his time of 1'31"246, he put almost seven tenths behind everyone. Behind, fourteen drivers stand in the same gap. Impressive.

Best of the rest, Benjamin Lessennes placed second with the BMW Espace Bienvenue, a car that was surprisingly in very good shape on the Nogaro turnstile. Vincent Beltoise completes the podium in theAlpine n°161 of Mirage Racing. He is ahead of Mike Parisy in theAston Martin of AGS Events and Benjamin Lariche at the wheel of the Ginetta Speed Car.

Note that Lariche and his friend Robert Consani changed their status during the weekend. They went from Pro-Am to Silver, a new category this year. The reigning champion Grégory Guilvert ranks eleventh. There Toyota by Aurélien Panis only ranks fourteenth.

In the first session, it was the Espace Bienvenue, very in good shape we tell you, who took pole. Ricardo Van der Ende achieved a time of 1'31"668. He was the first to make a big impact mid-session, doing better than last year's poles.

Behind, Robert Consani in the Speed Car team's Ginetta came to within a tenth, just ahead of Thomas Drouet in the No. 4 AKKA-ASP Mercedes-AMG GT88, less than 150 thousandths from the lead.

At the end of the session, we saw more of a status quo confirmed by the red flag three minutes from the goal, which prevented the majority of drivers from improving.

The top three are part of the new Silver category. The first Pro-AM is named Alain Ferté n°35 of Bodemer Auto. He is ahead of reigning champion Fabien Michal in the Audi du Saintéloc. In sixth position we find the first AM car, the No. 161 AGS Events Aston Martin of Didier Dumaine. His teammate Christophe Carrière also took pole in the category in the second session.
