As every year, the FIA has revealed the list of driver categorization for the 2023 season. As a reminder, the driver categorization is a system created by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile which lists drivers on the basis of their records and of their performances over the past few seasons. These factors evolve over time, the categorization can be adjusted each year depending on the results. There are currently 4 categories, from the “lowest” to the “highest”: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. These classifications allow you to participate or not in certain championships, particularly in Endurance (WEC, IMSA, ELMS or ALMS), in GT World or other competitions.

Among the main notable changes, two members of the Iron Dames are promoted to the higher categories thanks to their excellent performances: Sarah Bovy goes from Bronze to Silver while Michelle Gatting goes from Silver to Gold. The two pilots Peugeot en WEC, Gustavo Menezes et Mikkel Jensen, intègrent la catégorie Platine, tout comme Mathieu Jaminet et Dane Cameron, tous deux pilotes officiels Porsche. Nick Yelloly, pilote BMW en IMSA la saison prochaine, passe lui aussi en Platine, ainsi que Alessio Rovera et Nicklas Nielsen, pressentis pour piloter l’Hypercar de Ferrari in the WEC in 2023. Tristan Vautier, who could move into the JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963, is also entering the Platinum category.
