Alessandro Zanardi's house damaged by fire

It is unfortunately written that the life of Alessandro Zanardi will never be peaceful. The home of the Italian champion was prey to a fire this Tuesday, August 2 in Noventa Padovana, in the province of Padua in Veneto.

A fire broke out in the villa of the double American CART champion during the afternoon. According to the first elements of the investigation, reported by local media like the Resto del Carlino, the photovoltaic system would be responsible.

Fortunately, the fire did not cause serious damage thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, but still put the photovoltaic system out of service, which could have endangered the machines which ensure the good health of Alessandro Zanardi.

The 2012 and 2016 Paralympic disabled cycling champion was the victim of a serious traffic accident while training on June 19, 2020. Injured in the head, the former GT and Touring driver with BMW has since been undergoing a slow rehabilitation, marked by several surgical operations.

In December 2021, his wife Daniela Zanardi explained her husband's transfer from the hospital to their home. The former pilot of Formula 1 returned after this fire and was taken to a better equipped medical center in Vicenza, between Verona and Padua.

“The recovery process is still long, explained Daniela Zanardi last winter. The rehabilitation program carried out by doctors, physiotherapists, neuropsychologists and speech therapists has enabled constant progress. Of course, there are relapses and they can still happen. Sometimes you also have to take two steps back to be able to take one step forward. But Alex proves again and again that he is a real fighter. »
