The Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport featured at the 24 Hours of Spa

Since its presentation in Los Angeles at the end of last year, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport had marked the entry of the Weissach brand into the new category GT2 initiated by SRO Motorsports.

If Stéphane Ratel and his troops had already confirmed that cars meeting GT2 regulations would be in action during the next 24 Hours of Spa (July 25-28), an event counting for the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup et l’Intercontinental GT Challenge, ce sera bien une épreuve 100% Porsche à laquelle il sera possible d’assister.

SRO indeed confirmed this Monday that a race reserved for the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport will be contested alongside the double clock, with a “full grid” gathered for the occasion, thus showing the interest shown for this future GT2.

“The GT2 concept is very important to SRO and I’m excited to see it take off, comments Stéphane Ratel. The one-make race with the GT2 RS Clubsport taking place during the Spa 24 Hours weekend will represent another major milestone as we prepare to introduce the category to our series. »

At least two other manufacturers are hoped for in this category, as the promoter regularly admits. The GT2 must come to strengthen the grids of the Blancpain GT Sports Club, before being expected in the SRO Sprint championships in Europe, America and Asia.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport had achieved a demonstration during the last Bathurst 12 Hours, opening of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, where Porsche won.
