Lamborghini confirms its driver list for 2017

Lamborghini Squadra Corse has confirmed its list of drivers who will defend its interests on the circuits in 2017. The Sant'Agata Bolognese firm has focused on national drivers with four Italians in its workforce.

Having had official driver status since 2015, Mirko Bortolotti and Giovanni Venturini will continue their careers with the Italian manufacturer. They will be joined by their compatriots Marco Mapelli and Andrea Caldarelli, the runner-up in the Super GT 500. German Christian Engelhart will be the only foreign driver to complete the list.

“We are delighted to welcome drivers of the caliber of Christian and Andrea to our team who achieved excellent results with our customer teams in 2016 at the wheel of the Huracan GT3, commented Giorgio Sanna, director of Lamborghini Motorsport. As for Marco Mapelli, his recent record achieved with the new Huracan Performance on the Nordschleife Nürburgring has reinforced his reputation as a test driver and racing driver. »

Lamborghini will soon announce the list of drivers included in the Young Driver Program (drivers under 26 years old entered in Super Trofeo) and those registered in the GT3 Junior Program (entered in the GT Championship with the Huracan GT3).
