The Cauhaupé – Lavergne duo wins race 1 at Paul Ricard

Pole position and victory this Saturday for la Mercedes-AMG GT4 n°2 – Sport CD by Edouard Cauhaupé and Fabien Lavergne. The picture seems perfect, but success took time to emerge for the duo from Laurent Cazenave's team.

Starting from pole position, Edouard Cauhaupé was nevertheless forced to give up his position to Ricardo van der Ende (BMW M4 GT4 n°17 – L'Espace Bienvenue) in the first moments of the race.

The Dutchman will then focus on maintaining the advantage throughout his stint before passing the baton to his teammate Benjamin Lessennes. The latter, however, will be unable to do anything to counter the return of Fabien Lavergne, who makes the decisive overtake for victory at the Mistral chicane on the penultimate lap.

The Belgian will also have to lose immediately to the return of Thomas Drouet (Mercedes-AMG GT4 n°88 – AKKA-ASP), who fails in second position with his teammate Paul Petit, behind the winners of the day Edouard Cauhaupé and Fabien Lavergne, winners at Magny-Cours in race 1.

Fourth in this first of three races of the Var weekend, Mike Parisy and Nicolas Gomar (Aston Martin Vantage GT4 n°89 – AGS Events) won the Pro-Am standings ahead of overall class leaders Fabien Michal and Grégory Guilvert (No. 8 Audi R4 LMS GT42 – Saintéloc Racing).

In the Am Cup, success goes to the Toyota GR Supra GT4 n°66 – Toyota Gazoo Racing France by CMR de César Gazeau et Wilfried Calzalbon. The two Sunday races will take place at 11:30 a.m. and 16:35 p.m. and will be followed live video on our website.
