Furniture Row Racing will cease operations at the end of 2018

It’s a real bolt from the blue in the world of Nascar. The Furniture Row Racing team has announced that it will stop its activities in the American championship at the end of the 2018 season. Its star driver, Martin Truex Jr, finds himself without a steering wheel for the following campaign.

Furniture Row Racing faced a lack of budgetary resources for 2019 and preferred to stop its operations. " It is not good news, announced Barney Visser, the team boss, on Tuesday evening. To continue competitively, I would have to borrow money and I am not prepared to do that. »

Barney Visser reveals that he failed in his attempts to reach out to another Nascar team. “We aggressively searched for a replacement for our primary sponsor, and attempted to continue the alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing but it didn’t work out. It is better to announce (the end of the team) now, to give employees the chance to find work for 2019.”

This is how Martin Truex Jr, still reigning Nascar Cup Series champion, finds himself without a contract for 2019! “I completely understand this decision, he says. I will be forever grateful to every member of the team because they hired me when my career was at a standstill, and together we made it to the top of the sport. »
