Japan triumphs at the FIA Motorsport Games

Clearly, the GT races at the FIA Motorsport Games in Rome were not spared from the rain this weekend in Vallelunga. In these conditions, Japan, with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Ukyo Sasahara and Hiroshi Hamaguchi dominated the final event of the category, achieving a second success this Sunday after qualifying race 2.

It's also a new title for Hamaguchi, already a Pro-Am title in GT World Challenge Europe with FFF Racing, with Andrea Caldarelli's team running the No. 3 Huracan GT519 this weekend. end.

The Japanese quickly took the advantage at the start of the race against the Poland of Andrzej Lewandowski and Artur Janosz, who started from pole on a track declared wet by the race direction. A situation which did not prevent Switzerland or even Italy from setting off on slick tires.

Further behind, Zaid Ashkanani (Kuwait) regularly lights up the purple sectors to turn faster than the leaders, proof that the switch to slick tires made by his country, imitated by Russia or Belarus, seems the right one at the start of the race.

The Italian ride interrupted

5th at the start of the race after starting on slicks, Gianluca Roda Sr lost several positions in contact with the Spanish Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Alvaro Lobera. But the pilot of the Ferrari 488 GT3 from Italy quickly regains its momentum and is in fourth position, 14″ behind Hamaguchi, while sometimes moving up to 5″ faster than the leaders.

But Roda Sr made a mistake a little over 41′ from the finish, hitting the tire wall. The Italian will only leave to return to the pits as the rain returns at Vallelunga, ruining the poker game of the slicks of Russia or Kuwait.

Japanese triumph

After the stops delayed as much as possible by Portugal and China, the hierarchy places Japan at the forefront ahead of Portugal and Poland while Thailand was eliminated from the race for victory after leaving the track, an incident which caused the entry of the safety car.

Ukyo Sasahara remains in the lead at the green flag but further behind, a contact between Nico Verdonck (Belgium) and Steffen Görig (Germany) sends the German 911 GT3 R into the gravel trap. At the same time, the rain increased in intensity and the safety car was once again called onto the track.

A neutralization which turns out to be definitive, since given the weather conditions, the race will not be restarted, Japan winning ahead of Poland and Australia of Brenton and Stephen Whole grained, promue 3e après la pénalité infligée à la Belgique pour le contact avec la Porsche German.

France failed at the foot of the podium, a small disappointment for the Jean-Luc Beaubelique – Jim Pla duo, because the latter could undoubtedly have aimed higher at the end of the race under the green flag. China (Yaqi Zhang – Kan Zang) completes the top 5.
