WTCC stops in Brno

The 11th and 12th rounds of the WTCC championship take place this weekend in the Czech Republic. On a circuit favorable to BMW since its introduction to the world championship in 2006, Augusto Farfus will have a good card to play in the general classification. Indeed, following his victory during race 2 of the Valencia meeting, the BMW Germany driver returned to Yvan Muller's wheels in the general standings. With 54 points against 57 for the French driver, it is enough to say that nothing is decided when we approach mid-season at the end of the Czech meeting.

Brno is a circuit that suits German cars perfectly. Thus since 2002 and the appearance of the Czech round in the BTCC championship initially, then in the WTCC from 2006, the propeller brand has won eight victories out of twelve races contested. In the world championship, only Robert Huff (winner of race 2 in 2006) and Gabriele Tarquini (winner of race 2 in 2008) managed to break German hegemony.

Last year was also the opportunity to attend one of the most beautiful races of the season. During race 2, Gabriele Tarquini was able to resist the return of Alessandro Zanardi to win his Seat Leon TDI with a tiny lead. This season, the Italian driver could do well because he is the only one of the top drivers not to carry additional ballast. The other three brands (Seat, BMW, Chevrolet) will have to support 40 kg.

« I managed to collect 31 points in the last four races », said Farfus. “ I want to continue this momentum in Brno. The route suits me well. Since I've been driving for BMW, I've never finished higher than fourth here. So we will try to be as strong here as we were in Spain?he concluded.
