The 10 Suzuka 2020 Hours canceled

The round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) 2020 scheduled for Suzuka (Japan) from August 21 to 23, will not take place. Indeed, the Suzuka 10 Hours event was canceled following the decision of the owners of the Japanese track, Mobilityland Corporation, this Friday, May 22.

According to them, thePreventive measures linked to the Covid-19 pandemic in Japan but also across the world could still be in place at this time of the year. As Kaoru Tanaka, Director of Mobilityland Corporation, explains, “we had many teams from Europe and other countries around the world”. The field for the 2020 edition would therefore have run the risk of finding itself very reduced.

SRO Motorsports Group, at the head of the IGTC, however works to find a fifth appointment in the 2020 calendar on the Asian continent. A decision is expected before the end of June.

After the 12 Hours of Bathurst (Australia) held last February, the next round of the IGTC is therefore scheduled in Indianapolis for the race in an 8 Hour format, with the participation in support of GT4 America and TC America.
