Following the disappearance of the WTCR, the World Touring Car Cup organized by Discovery Sport Events, doubts and rumors seemed to weigh on the possible organization of the electric series. It seems that things are unblocking and that we should have a season in 2023.
Hyundai confirmed, via its official driver Mikel Azcona (see AH N°2397) that a new car was in development. It seems that the Korean brand has set its sights on the Ioniq 5 to replace the Veloster ETCR.
On the Cupra side, radio silence for the moment, but we find it difficult to see the Spanish manufacturer not putting its title on the line this season.
Romeo Ferraris should enter its beautiful Giulias again this year. It seems to be confirmed that two new brands should debut during the season before joining the ETCR full-time in 2024.
Regarding the calendar, if nothing is yet confirmed, we should head towards events mainly contested on the old continent.
