Marciello: “If we lose, we will have made a mistake”

Raffaele marciello (Mercedes) returns to the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) a year after pushing himself to the limit. The Italian, then 22 years old, had driven the No. 3 Mercedes-AMG GT90 of the AKKA-ASP team for 14 hours, causing him serious fatigue after the podium ceremony.

Third in 2017, the factory driver of the brand with the Star intends to do much better for the 70th edition of the Ardennes classic. “This year, everyone will be watching us among the best Mercedes with Strakka Racing where there is Maxi Buhk (which extended its lease with Mercedes during the winter. Editor’s note), he explains in an interview given to CARhebdo, to be found in n°2175.

With Dani Juncadella and Tristan Vautier, we form a very good crew. If we lose, it's because we made a mistake or something didn't work. We are in a good position », confides Raffaele Marciello.

The former resident of the Ferrari Drivers Academy also focuses on his transition from car towards the GT. “I won the F3 in 2012. (his 2nd year in the category. Editor’s note), I was second during the first season, winning seven races. After that, I think I deserved to go to F1. I went to GP2, with good teams but not the best. »
