Maserati announces its return to competition with the MC20

Who says Maserati necessarily says motorsport. Since the 50s, the Italian brand has shone on the world circuits, whether in F1 (Juan Manuel Fangio being crowned world champion in 1957 with the 250F), or even in the World Sports Car Championship.

More recently, the collective memory mainly remembers the legendary MC12 of the FIA GT1 World Championship, a car which marked the 2000s, and largely at the origin of the introduction of the Balance of Performance into the SRO fold.

Without forgetting the Maserati Super Trofeo GT4, the firm now owned by FIAT-Chrysler has not really been talked about in recent years before this week and the announcement of a return to competition via the MC20.

Although we don't know much about the regulations that will be used for the basis of the car, the latter will be built at the Modena factory. Maserati indicates that the powertrain will be electric, the brand having embarked on a major change in its powertrains with hybrid and electric in the spotlight.

Given the video teaser, we will have to wait until May 2020 to find out more about this MC20.
