Mathieu Jaminet and Robert Renauer 2018 ADAC GT champions

A single point lead will be enough to Mathieu Jaminet and Robert Renauer to secure the Drivers' crown in ADAC GT Masters this Sunday at Hockenheim.

10th on the starting grid, the Frenchman survived the initial melee which eliminated one of his main rivals for the title, pole sitter Maxi Götz (Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°47 – HTP-Mann Filter), pushed off-trajectory by Dries Vanthoor (Audi R8 LMS GT3 n°12 – EFP by TECE), very optimistic at the start of the first corner.

The Belgian, accompanied by Chris Reinke, boss of Audi Sport Customer Racing, will however apologize to Götz in the stands.

The latter and his brother and teammate Sheldon will prove to be the last adversaries of the Jaminet – Renauer tandem, then 4th until the driver changes.

Robert Renauer will spend the second part of the event in fifth position, a sufficient result despite Sheldon van der Linde taking over from Rolf Ineichen, who took over from Christian Engelhart in the leading Lamborghini at the very end of the race.

The victory of the van der Linde siblings will not prevent a second consecutive French coronation in the ADAC GT Masters after that of Jules Gounon last year, Jaminet and Renauer maintaining a one point margin in the championship.

HTP Motorsport will be able to console itself with the Teams title, won yesterday at the end of the first race.
